CANOEING & Kayaking

No visit to the Wye Valley is complete without a trip down the Wye. Running through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the River Wye is renowned for its unspoiled scenery & wildlife, including Atlantic salmon, otters & kingfishers. Book with Wye Adventures who will come to ou site to put you on the water before transporting you back later. Wye Adventures offer a number of routes & itineraries to suit your needs & abilities. Full, 3/4 or 1/2 day and multi-day trips are available, as well as the option to go self-guided or have an instructor with you. Stand-Up Paddle Boarding

An off-shoot of surfing that originated in Hawaii. Stand-up paddle boarders stand on their boards, using a paddle to propel themselves through the water. SUP has become an increasingly popular activity & now incorporates other activities such as yoga. Bookable via Wye Adventures.

Gorge Scrambling

Don your wetsuit, buoyancy aid & helmet and spend a wonderful few hours with your guide & group walking, scrambling, climbing, abseiling & leaping into plunge pools in a magical location. Bookable via Wye Adventures.

Climbing & Abseiling

The climbing & abseiling at Symonds Yat Rock is suitable for all levels including complete novices. It is a friendly venue set in stunning surroundings. All sessions are tailored to the party's desires & level of experience. Bookable via Wye Adventures.

Bushcraft & Survival

This Bushcraft & Survival taster session is a great course for anyone who is new to bushcraft and wanting to find out what it's all about. You will learn about fire starting, camp building and basic knife skills. Surrounded by wildlife and a vast array of natural resources, this course will provide you with a good grounding in basic bushcraft & survival.Bookable via Wye Adventures.

All activities are delivered by a local, outside company. Wye Canoes/ Wye Adventures Ltd are approved by: Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA), British Canoe Union (BCU) and Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme.

Pedalabikeaway Cycle Centre in the nearby Forest of Dean features 11 miles of safe, traffic-free cycle trails, suitable for all ages & abilities. For the more adventurous, there are plenty of trails for mountain biking. Take your own bikes or hire them at the centre.

Goodrich Castle

Visible in the distance from the tipis, Goodrich Castle is a Norman Medieval Castle & English Heritage Site. The castle is home to the 'Roaring Meg', the only surviving civil war mortar. 

Clay Shooting

Chessgrove Shooting School is based on a working farm within the beautiful countryside. Clay shooting is a great activity for groups of friends, stag/hen/birthday parties, corporate days & anyone looking for friendly-fun competition. 

Go Ape: Tree Top Adventure & Segway

Enjoy two-three hours in the trees taking on zip wires, Tarzan swings, rope ladders & a variety of obstacles & crossings. This Go Ape Treetop Adventure in the Forest of Dean, England's largest oak woodland, had a complete redesign in 2016. For children there is Go Ape Junior.

Forest Segway is the epic adventure with a down-to-earth twist. Cruise & explore the forest floor on the all-terrain, self-balancing, electric Segways.
